Description

From the 8th Century the skills of the Monastic community in Ireland where well
recognized across Europe for their exquisite detail. The vikings made frequent
excursions into the Irish Countryside to raid and plunder these monasteries in
hopes of acquiring large collections of these works. One piece in particular,
The Ardagh Chalice, was removed and hidden from the invaders and was left
undisturbed for centuries. Today in The National Museum in Dublin it is considered
on of the most highly prized pieces from this period. The Celtic Warrior Collection
highlights the beauty and skill of these monks.
